The Ghana Education Service has postponed the start date of the SHS 1 academic calendar to 22 March 2021.
In a document signed by the Deputy Director-General, this extension is to aid students who were unable to get placement to go through the self-placement process properly to resolve all issues about it before the academic calendar begins.
The Ghana Education Service stated that all SHS 1 students will report by 18th March through to Sunday 21st March 2021 as they prepare for the new academic calendar which begins on Monday 22 March 2021.

In addition to the list of reasons why the Ghana Education Service has extended the reporting date, they added that this will enable parents to prepare well for their wards and also give the schools enough time to prepare their welcome. GES has advised parents to use their Placement Call Centre should they have any issues.
GES has also added that parents should provide their wards adequate nose masks to journey through the COVID-19 pandemic, while management of schools has also been tasked to ensure strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols.
There is also a second document signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service Cassandra Twum Ampofo.
RE-OPENING OF SCHOOL FOR SHS 1 STUDENTS

Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES), wishes to Inform, staff, parents students and the general public that SHS 1 students re-opening of school has been rescheduled from 1011, March to Thursday 18. March through to Sunday 21. March 2021.
This is to enable the students and parents to have ample time to prepare for school and School Management also prepares to receive them.
Management has also noted that some students have not yet enrolled and the extension will give these students the opportunity to do so as well.
Academic work will commence fully on Monday 22nd March 2021.
Management expresses its sincere appreciation to parents, students, and the general public for their support and cooperation so far.
Meanwhile. Management has granted the request of Heads of Senior High Schools to have Mid Semester Break from Monday 8th March to Thursday 11th March 2021.
This Mid Semester Break is not compulsory and so students who wish to stay on campus must be fed and adhere to school rules.
All staff, parents, students, and the general public are to take note of the dates.
