Below are the WASSCE requirements for applying for a diploma in nursing in Ghana
I have addressed some popular questions nursing training applicants normally ask below;
Unfortunately no, you cannot apply for a diploma in nursing in Ghana with D7, however, you can apply for a certificate programme which you can top up afterwards for a diploma.
Although D7 is a passing grade, it is rather seen as failed for a diploma or degree in nursing. This is because, if we are to go by its numeric value, D7 is computed as 7 points, so if you get two D7s in your results, you are already hitting 14. The best way out if you are yet to write WASSCE is to stay out of D7 by all means but if you are already done and you have this D7 screaming at you anytime you pick your WASSCE results, click here to see what you can do, especially if you are interested in applying for a nursing programme.
To apply for a diploma in nursing in Ghana, you certainly need at least A1 – C6 grades in three core subjects with priority on Core Science, as well as any other three electives. If your grades are that bad, I will suggest you register and write NOVDEC or join a private school to rewrite WASSCE to get better grades, depending on how bad your grades are. Do not feel awful because your grades cannot afford you a school at the moment, you certainly can do better and try again soon. Good luck!
