At the time of its establishment in 2009, the academic city college used to be a stand-alone facility in the city located in ring rude, Accra. The school was very famous for its affiliated program which runs with Sikkim Manipal University (SMU). The well-known International School has produced over 3000 graduates from over 23 countries across Africa. Academy City received their accreditation in Ghana in 2008 for distance learning from the National Accreditation Board. They proceeded to receive their first batch and offered BSE Information Technology and BBA Banking and Finance programmes in 2009.
